Hit The Ground Running Dance Theatre Company delivers outreach workshops to both main stream schools and SEND schools, colleges and universities. Workshops are primarily designed to reflect the company's current focus. The workshops can also be adapted to suit the curriculum requirements of each establishments needs.

Workshops available:

Workshop A)
Aimed at teachers, lecturers and support staff. The purpose of the workshop is to offer a collaboration and open up creative engagement. In addition the workshops offer a new creative approach, innovative lesson planning and sharing ideas with industry professionals.

Workshop B)
Aimed at learners from Key Stage 4 upwards in main stream and SEND schools, colleges and universities. Learners are introduced to the subject matter, by a company member who will then use the groups contributions and  ideas as a catalyst for discussion. The creative team will empower the learners  to devise and share their work with confidence in a safe and positive learning  environment that  encourages differentiation. A company member will challenge the learners with exciting physical movement and create dynamic choreography. There may also be  performance opportunities  for the students to celebrate their work  alongside Hit The Ground Running Dance Theatre Company at venues across the region.

Workshop C) 

Aimed at learners Key stages 1 to 3 in main stream and SEND schools. The company can offer tailor made dance/creative performance programs.
The workshop packages can be tailored exactly to your needs. We would discuss your areas of focus and develop a program around these requirements.
The workshops are designed to inspire young students in a creative, safe environment. To develop movement and coordination skills, partnership and team work and to encourage their creative flare and help develop a sense of individuality.

Hit The Ground Running is a new and innovative dance theatre company based in Newcastle upon Tyne, directed by choreographer Michael Heatley.


Established in 2015, Hit The Ground Running creates dance and physical theatre performances that challenge and question the perceptions and notions of masculinity in the modern age. Staged with all male casts and sculpted around real mens stories. 


The company celebrates a collaborative approach to devising theatre, working with local communities and individuals who inspire the development of thought provoking performances for a wide variety of audiences both young and old.
